Four riders out today: Adam Domaingue, Bill Kent, myself and Bill Martin leading. The weather was overcast with light drizzle, or as the BBC Forecast calls it: “0% chance of precipitation.” Plenty of thick mud to contend with today, covered up with a lovely layer of leaves to give it that ‘Man trap’ effect when you suddenly disappear into it! Somewhere in that terrain I noticed Bill Kent’s rear light was missing, probably at the bottom of one of the boggy bits!
The route went out via Priest Hill, south side of Epsom, onto the Downs and crossed over Stane Street before dropping into Lower Ashtead for elevenses. A busy little cafe, but excellent food at reasonable prices.
The route back was shorter, across Epsom Common and back through Horton Country Park where I left the trio to head back to Cheam.
