Saturday 20th December, off road Bockett’s Farm

Five riders met on a bright sunny day at Nonsuch Mansion: Tracy Caudle, Bill Kent, Trevor Kite, myself and Bill Martin leading. There was very little wind today, and although bright it was cold @ 3°C when we started off by heading out from the south east corner of Nonsuch. The ground was a little boggy today after Thursday’s torrential rain and we found our fair share of fallen trees along the way.

The route out was towards Nork, climbing to Epsom Downs, Tattenham Corner, Langley Vale, Staine Street, over the M25 and heading south west of Leatherhead for Bockett’s, simple!

Bockett’s Farm was busy with lots of kiddies off to see Santa – we resisted the urge to join them and headed into the cafe which was warm, and had various hot beverages and suitable food for us cycling types.

An hour later when we’d had enough to eat and drink we left the mayhem that had steadily grown at the cafe with over excited kiddies and headed into central Leatherhead for the route back via the old, ‘Over and under’ junction path of the M25 for the more pleasant scenery of a boggy Epsom Common.  After crossing this we were in Horton  Country Park where I bode farewell and wished the quartet compliments of the season before hastily retreating to my warm car for home.
