Saturday 19th June, MTB Windmill Tea Rooms, Wimbledon Common

Seven riders on today’s run, Dave Rapson, Dave Clarke, Tracy Caudle, Trevor Kite and myself leading, met at Cheam Station Southside and picking up Mick Curtis and Adam Domaingue at Carshalton Ponds.

It was a warm, overcast day and the ground was very damp from the previous few days torrential downpours after the UK’s mini heatwave.

We followed the Wandle Trail to Earlsfield encountering a fallen tree across the path at Hackbridge, which we bypassed by going over the playing fields. At Earlsfield we turned and headed for Wimbledon Park and climbed Bathgate Road and onto the side of Wimbledon Common where elevenses was at the Windmill.

The return route was via Robin Hood Gate at Richmond Park, Ham, Teddington Lock and along the Thames to Kingston then back along the Hogsmill River to Cheam.
