Saturday 14th June, Canterbury to Tenterden

Despite the huge overnight thunderstorm most of our route was dry as a bone and the temperature was still good. We left at 09:30hrs due to Dennis’s car being a few minutes away, as there wasn’t any parking facilities at the Premier inn, town centre. We had a gentle, cooling headwind for most of the day which helped. A front wheel puncture for Tracey about a mile out from Wye, the elevenses stop, had some of us playing, ‘hunt the Hawthorne’ for a few minutes.

Elevenses at, ‘The Hub’ cafe, Wye.

Crossing Ashford was more pleasant than I thought it would be, sneaking in across fields and following rivers had us miss most of the Saturday shopper traffic. Soon we were approaching the lunch stop at, ‘The Bull’ pub, Ashford around five miles from our overnight stop at Tenterden. With such a short amount of miles to go some of us got really relaxed.

We arrived at the King’s Hotel, Tenterden around 15:45hrs which gave us plenty of time to relax before deciding on a meal plan.
Later with plan hatched and the lovely Dennis willing to ferry us into central Tenterden in two trips we had a great Italian meal.

28.87 miles, 1,150ft climbing.
