Five brave riders out today in the sub zero temperatures of Surrey: Tracy Caudle, Trevor Kite, Bill Kent, Adam Domaingue and myself leading. Just a shortish ride for some fresh air and get the legs moving again, for at least three of us have suffered winter lurgies and haven’t been able to ride for a number of weeks.
The route – Ewell, Hogsmill River – very quiet today for a change, sans doggies and their owners. Then into Horton Country Park, Ashtead Common, Prince’s Coverts, Claygate Common and finally into the cricket ground. The café is a nice warm venue to thaw out in, and we were soon befriended by a black labrador looking on with envious eyes at the food we were consuming. We partook of a leisurely stop due to the temperature and the closeness to home, which made it a little difficult to get the legs moving again once we did decide to leave.
The ride back was short via Claygate Common, Chessington South and Horton Country Park.
A good ride, eighteen and a half miles for me, enough when the temperature is hovering around zero °C!
