Ride report: Saturday 22nd June MTB Ashtead

Three riders departed Cheam Station Southside for Ashtead.

Mick Curtis, Myself leading and new rider Kathleen, out with us for the MTB ride trying us out for size. This was the first Saturday ride this year I have been confident enough regarding the weather to wear shorts! Blue sky’s, nil wind and starting temperature of 16c, lovely.

Our route took us over Nonsuch Park, Ewell and climbed up to Epsom Downs racecourse, where Mick suffered a rear wheel puncture. The puncture was quickly dealt with and we crossed the racecourse heading up Langley Valley to Thirty Acre Barn and Stane Street. This then took us into the back of Ashtead and the elevenses stop.

After suitable refuelling we set off back through Ashtead Park, crossed over the railway and entered Epsom Common heading north to Horton Country Park. After Horton we ‘iggy wiggied’ our way along the Hogsmill River to Ewell and back across Nonsuch Park.
