There were four riders at Cheam Station for the set off at 0900hrs.
Messrs Ayliffe (our leader), Curtis, White and Green left in a southerly direction to nip into the south side of Nonsuch Park due to the joggers reversing their run route to anti-clockwise over the last few weeks.
It must be Sunspots, Solstice activity, earth’s magnetic core or something!
Exiting via the Ewell bypass side of the park through Ewell we followed the Hogsmill River along and then headed southerly for Horton Country Park leading onto Ashtead Common.
Today’s weather was pleasant. The breaking cloud led to temperatures starting at 16c and during the ride rose to around 21c with a mild gusty wind from the north-west on our way back.
Elevenses was at the cafe in Leatherhead and not Ashtead as listed on the ‘Rides lists.’
Mick Curtis said on a ride he did Thursday previous that, ‘The old Bikerbeans, Ashtead is now open again, it’s currently rubbish!, the new owners are trying to work out what’s popular with cyclist!’
After sustenance, full english, bacon sarnies, bipodal seeds on toast etc in a Leatherhead we retraced our route arriving back in Cheam around 1300hrs.
Nice ride chaps. I throughly enjoyed the pace, the company and the conversation.
It’s what the Saturday rides are all about.
