MJA celebration of life event 14th April

On a lovely sunny Sunday five of us set out from Hartsfield Manor for an off road ride in memory of Mick Ayliffe.

Two other memorial groups led by Trevor Hughes (Short ride) and John Aitkin (Longer ride) went on to the Surrey lanes that Mick loved and knew so well.

Trevor’s route map.

I believe Trevor’s group of around twelve people did seventeen miles. John’s group of a similar amount did twenty-one miles, and my off road group did around ten miles due to a persistent puncture issue identified as a torn rim tape at the valve killing inner tubes. Whilst under repair at the side of the road, Barry Gregory and Rob Potter passed us on their way to Tan House in Newdigate, chatting and reminiscing along the way.

Good fun was had by all, and it wasn’t the mileage; it was all about the gathering and remembering.
