Hythe ride away day, Sunday 10th June.

Meet 0830hrs Fort Road, Hythe, Kent.

Departure by bike 0900hrs, route 58 miles.

Please confirm asap if you intend to ride.

Also keep a close eye on this blog Saturday early evening as this will be the time if I should need to cancel the ride.

Due to past history on this ride of strong winds on this exposed route the decision was taken a number of years ago not to ride if the wind was >20mph due to the dangers on the exposed coastal road areas on this route.

Any cancellation would be posted by me no later than 1900hrs Saturday 9th June.

As many of you will know at this time I’m not able to ride the full distance of this tour due to recent health issues.

I will lead from Hythe to Dungeness through the lanes on the marshes.

Our departure from the cafe after elevenes will require someone to lead the route section through to Lydd, Camber Sands, Rye, the Military Canal Road, Appledore and back towards the lunch stop at ‘The Woolpack’, Brooklands, Kent.

I will be taking the ‘Ayliffe short cut’ to the lunch stop to keep my mileage within a reasonably ‘comfortable’ limits.

I will be producing O/S maps with the normal route highlighted and the short cut I intend to take.

They will be handed out on the day if required by anyone still not using some sort of Gremlin satnav!

After the lunch stop I will lead us back again through the lanes on the marshes to Hythe again.

I look forward to seeing you all,

  1. Paul – apologies as I would have very happily joined you on the ride but this week has been a busy one at work and am only now looking at tomorrow.
