Seven riders at the Nonsuch Park meeting point in overcast, chilly conditions. Today’s temperature hovered at 2°C as we set off. Our riders today were, Tracy Caudle, Trevor Kite, myself and Adam Domaingue, Bill Kent, Trevor Hughes and Bill Martin leading. The route out was iggy-wiggy on trails sandwiched in between Ewell and Epsom, on to Epsom Common west side, over the A24 into Prince’s Coverts and under the A3 to Esher Common. The ride conditions were softish, but improving, still cold and overcast, but at least it was dry!
It was then onto Esher Common for a couple of miles before crossing the old Portsmouth Road and onto a gnarly, muddy ascent then descent on West End Common to the cafe.
The cafe wasn’t that busy so we got served quickly. A decent amount of space at this venue and it’s warm, a big attraction this time of year.

Adam, getting to grips with some unruly sausages!
The route back was a through the millionaire’s estate, Thames Ditton, Esher Common, Arbrook Common, Claygate Common, Chessington South and back into Horton CP. Some more boggy, muddy stuff was encountered on the way back near Horton. The group carried on back to Cheam and I headed back to the car.
