A pleasant 270 mile along the usual River Wandle route starting in Cheam and picking up the Wandle in Carshalton a few miles from its source out Croydon way or thereabouts.
A good turn out today including myself, alas not as often as I’d like to be out due to other commitments.
The sun was out and it was a low risk ride, a bonus for me as I’m about to go on holiday in a couple of days and was avoiding any high risk rides and possible injuries!
Riders today: Our leader for the ride Trevor H, and then the followers, Paul W, MJA, Ev Q, Mick (sorry don’t remember the surname) Big Dave, Andrew A, Paul M, Dave E, Brian H.
A very pleasant trundle along the Wandle River in sunny, but a little overcast conditions.
Luckily the sun blazed whilst at the Elevenses spot ‘The Rocket’, a Wetherspoons establishment whilst we dined ‘Al Fresco’ and continued for the rest of the route back to Cheam.
After Elevenses the ride continued south west through the back streets of Putney’s terrace houses and up onto Wimbledon Common.
We dropped into the boarders of Raynes Park SW20 and out through Cannon Hill Common, with various riders peeling off to head in the general directions of their humble obodes.
I arrived back in Cheam to bid ‘”Adios” to MJA, Ev, Mick, and Trevor around the bottom of the Cheam Bypass and then tap back to my car parked just up the road from Cheam Station.
A very agreeable way to spend a Sunday with good friends.
Paolo.
