Trevor’s birthday celebration ride was a MTB ride led by Bob Starey to Horley accompanied by Paul M, Paul K, Paul W, Dave E, Tony Mazzola and guest riders Andy and Keith. It was a beautiful day as they rode off-road to Epsom Downs, Headley Heath, down the escarpment to Brockham and South to near Parkgate passed areas abundant with bluebells in flower. Then they rode east and on to Horley for a brunch in one of Bob’s favourite places of refreshment. The return journey was north along the lanes and tracks to Redhill where, alas, Paul M, Dave and Trevor succumbed to the temptation with the usual consequences and remained in Redhill for some pleasurable two hours. Another excellent and sometimes challenging ride, particularly the climb from Headley Heath through Ashurst to the Boxhill Road, which nobody has ever managed to ride. This is then followed by the steep and dangerous descent to Brockham. Thanks Bob for the most enjoyable ride. 48 miles round trip from Epsom at 10 mph average speed climbing 2200 feet.
