Ride from Cheam through Epsom and on to Leatherhead with Andrew Adams, Paul Martin, Dave Elliott, Trevor Hughes and welcome new member Paula. From the pick-up point to Effingham up Sheapleas, down to Shere, along to Abinger Hammer and up to Holmbury Saint Mary Bulmer Farm coffee stop. Where we all rested on a bail of hay to drink coffee. Then a short steep climb to Leigh Hill with a rapid descent to Dorking. Paul and Dave left the group to ride up Boxhill. The others continued on to Leatherhead and Epsom where Paula proceeded on to Sutton. Andrew and Trevor stopped with the usual consequences. Paula did well on her first ride with the club, managed the hills and rode her longest distance on a bike. May be after a few rides she will be riding up hills and waiting for us! Riding in the very hot and sunny conditions made the ride more arduous. 46 miles, 2,500 feet of climbing.
This was a brilliant ride for me! The longest I’ve had probably for quite a few years courtesy of the Ribble e bike.
Paula was really going for it and has a great future in cycling after today’s ride. I’m impressed!!
Looking forward to more rides like today
