Sunday 23rd October Club Run

Four riders turned out on a beautiful Autumn morning at Cheam.  Bill Martin was only on a short ride though leaving Dave Elliot, Tony “don’t make me crazy” Mazolla and Ev to look after the two novice riders that we met at Walton-on-the-Hill; Narinder and Claire.

We set off towards Headly via Hurst Road to descend Little Switzerland where we took stock and decided to head for Tanhouse via Scamell’s Corner and Parkgate for tea and grub.  The journey home was to be into a strengthening North Easterly wind, but our new riders, being fortified with refreshments, made their way back to Walton-on-the-Hill via Box Hill.  It is fair to say that Narinder is better up the hills and Claire is better down the hills; perhaps due to her not have clipless peddles or toe clips and riding a chunky hybrid.  But she valiantly climbed the Box Hill with me giving her company and encouragement.

I would like to thank Dave Elliot and Tony for making the ride a good one for the newcomers.
