Sunday 11th June Clubrun

Four riders met at Cheam Station: Andrew Adams, Vinny, Brian Harris and myself.  We head out to the pickup point at Merstham Station where Paul White and Dave Elliot were waiting for us.  We rode south through Merstham and Warwick Wold to emerge on the A25 just west of Bletchingly.  We headed through the town on the usual route to Tilburstow, having dropped down it and crossing the A22 to continue through Crowhurst, Lingfield and Felcourt before hauling ourselves up the climb of Baldwin’s Hill into East Grinstead.

Luckily, there were no steam trains on the platform of the Bluebell Railway so we were spared Paul’s description of the 5 3 7 “Barfield Blunderbuss” and instead carried on to attack the east face of Turner’s Hill.  Paul went wibbly-wobbly and wanted to turn back at this point after his “0ne week” flu last week, but he was forced to go onto the tea stop four miles further up the road.

With Turner’s Hill conquered, we descended to Tully’s Farm for refreshment in the sunshine.  Followed by a ride back through Copthorne, Smallfield, Coopers Hill, Merstham, Harps Oak Lane and Banstead.

A lovely ride in good company with plenty of laughs on a lovely day.
