Saturday 6th June, off road, Bertie’s Claygate Cricket Club

The weather was dodgy from the start with intermittent showers, some very heavy, and a healthy, gusty wind from the south west. Nevertheless six turned out in the less than cooperative conditions. Adam Domaingue, Bill Kent, Tracy Caudle, Trevor Kite, myself and Bill Martin leading the ride.

Our route was fairly short and direct-ish due to the hit and miss weather. So along the Hogsmill River, Chessington South, under the A3 and into the north eastern tip of Claygate to the cafe.

Wise debate ensued, and we put all the world’s woes to rights whilst eating some delicious freshly made food. Dave Clarke made a welcome guest star appearance, possibly the only sensible one, because he arrived by car! Whilst there we watched the diagonal heavy rain showers and then all of a sudden the sun came out. We decided to make a break for it and head home asap before we got another drenching.

And so our short and sweet ride back retraced a lot of the outbound route and everyone made it back home by the skin of their teeth without too much more moisture attraction.

Fifeteen miles for me, lucky to have done that with this morning’s weather, so happy with my efforts.
