By Ed Pegg
Five riders met at Nonsuch for this ride, Ed Pegg, Trevor Kite and Tracey Caudle, Trevor Hughes and Bill Martin leading.
We headed off through Epsom towards Epsom downs. On the start of the trails at Epsom Downs, we met a rather over-excited dog, who started chewing on Bill’s overshoe. Glad he was leading, not me. For his trouble, Bill was promptly told off by another dog owner for hogging the trail. Good job he got bitten then!
After that excitement, we thrashed our way through some hacking trails on Epsom Downs and up the long, slippery climb to Walton on the Hill. A quick dash through Walton Heath led us to Banstead Heath, where Bill led us through some twisting single track to the A217.
We then headed into Kingwood, where we promptly got lost and after much twisting and turning through the Kingswood Mansions, we made it to the Waterhouse.
English Breakfasts all round in the café and Tracey very kindly bought everyone a mince pie. Tis the season after all.
We then headed back through Banstead Woods. Trevor and Tracey left us at Banstead to do some Christmas shopping. I headed for Wallington through Banstead Common, with Bill and Trevor Hughes returning to Nonsuch.
Good ride, if you ignore the dog.
