Brian Harris led the Sportive training ride to Clandon with Andy Huddart, Chris Devereux, Andrew Adams, Steve Edgar and Trevor Hughes. Flooded roads and many large dangerous potholes were negotiated as the ride wound its way through Epsom, Ashtead Park, Leatherhead and up to the top of Coombe Bottom then descending and detouring through the lanes to Clandon. Chris snapped his chain after leaving the cafe, a tribute either to the power he was putting through it or the large breakfast he had just demolished, luckily the liberal protective coating of oil on his chain meant that taking a link out wasn’t a problem.
