Friday 11th September, transit to Isle of Wight

A bonus for me whilst riding from Eastney to Portsmouth to meet the crew was the Air Ambulance taking off alongside Southsea pier.

The four riders got to the ferry from various parking places and one by train. Bill Martin, Jigs, Neil and myself via the car ferry to Fishbourne.
Then a quick quarter of an hour later after leaving the ferry we were in the lanes and onto our first section of old railway path.

Half hour later bags and check in successful, and early, good result.
So it was decided that a loop of trails up to Whippingham Church and back for coffee at the marina was the order of the day.

A nice relaxing ride with lovely scenery.

Alas sadly the rotting hulk of a once great paddle steamer (Ryde) was seen stranded, resting in the mud, and for me difficult to comprehend as to why it had ended up in this heartbreaking  condition.

Back at hotel for wash and brush up @ 16:00hrs and out a little while later for food and drink in the town.
Approximately 18 miles riding today.
