A picture of me and Joanna Rowsell after meeting her as she ‘turned on the lights’ in Cheam in the company of the Mayor and others last Saturday. She was poised, patient, polite and charm itself. She said it’s all changed since the Olympics and she is much more in the media spotlight that she ever was before. I mentioned that she had passed me (rather easily) on Boxhill once and then had the sensitivity not to rush past, but had just gradually pulled away until out of sight. She hoped I had not been offended. She is a great diplomat.
I wished her all the best for Rio, a goal for which she is already really focused.
